Sources of Mold Contamination:
An Environmental Assurance Checklist
The following areas inside a home or building can be potential breeding
grounds for mold:
• Air conditioner condensing units covered by debris
• Dirty air filters
• Toilet floats and tanks
• Leaky sinks and faucets
• Leaky drains
• Water heater sediment (if more than one gallon)
• Vegetation especially new vegetation
• Shower tile with fractured grout lines
• Overflow from bathtubs
• Condensation on plumbing lines and windows
• Flooding damage in floors and ceilings
• Abnormal exterior stress and fractures
• Loose caps on exposed plumbing lines (take thermal images of lines)
• Dishwashers
• Clogged dryer vents
• Clothes that are line dried indoors
• Discolored drywall and paint
• Firewood stored indoors
• Humidifiers
• Houseplants
